The Phi Beta Kappa Society
On May 8, 2019, I was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. According to PBK's website, founded in 1776, Phi Beta Kappa is America's most prestigious academic honors society. Liberal arts and sciences undergraduate students are selected based on a "highly selective merit based invitation process." I was one included in the 10% of students chosen to join this organization.
In January 2020, I was selected to be a writing intern for the Phi Beta Kappa Society. The paid internship program requires interns to write a minimum of 5 articles that are published on the Key Reporter, PBK's online website and print magazine. I had the opportunity to interview recent PBK inductees, such as Nicholas Johnson, the first black valedictorian of Princeton, and PBK alumni, like Dr. Jay Adlersberg, former WABC-TV health reporter and current practitioner at NYU Health, in the spotlight for their own projects and achievements. After completion of the internship program, I was also selected to share my experience, which will be shown on the back cover of the Key Reporter print version.
